HE KNEW US BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN!

As Christians, we tend to perceive “time” as a linear scale. In other words, our life on this planet has a beginning (birth), a middle (where we devote most of our lives) and an end (where we acknowledge our time of passing is coming closer).

We tend to look at God the same way. At some time in our life, God wooed us to Jesus Christ; and, upon believing in His name, we became a brand new creature in Christ and started our life in this flesh with a renewed sense of vision and purpose.

But God isn’t linear. He is infinitely multi-dimensional and can see all things throughout eternity all at once. That is why He is Alpha and Omega … and everything in between.

So, when it came time for us to be “born-again”, God wasn’t just looking at us at that particular time in our life (as though He just did acknowledge our existence). He already saw us in terms of eternity. In fact, He knew all about us before we were ever conceived!

When revealing Himself to Jeremiah, He said:

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Was Jeremiah “special”? We tend to look at him that way. But he was just a human being like the rest of us … with frailties, weaknesses and sins! But God “sanctified” him that he might do a great work for the Lord. And God did this before he was ever born.

David had the same realization:

“My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret …  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalms 139:15-16)

WOW!

God saw David through the ages of eternity before David was ever “formed”! All that existed was his imperfect “substance” which God, somewhere in eternity, beheld … and then “fashioned” him accordingly!

And as it was with David … so it is with us!

Somewhere in eternity, God beheld our substance (yet imperfect) and designed us accordingly. And when He beheld us, He didn’t just see our birth and subsequent re-birth in Christ. He saw our ENTIRE life from start to finish!

And here’s the most important and significant part:

HE LOVED WHAT HE SAW!

And because He loved YOU (in your entirety), He desired to bring you into His PRESENCE that the two of you might have fellowship!

But your sins made it impossible for God to accomplish this. So, when He looked at you through the lens of eternity and loved what He saw, He went to extreme measures to eliminate that which was keeping the two of you apart … in order that you and Him might be together … for all eternity!

So, God’s love for YOU in particular (and His desire to be with YOU) was so great that…

“… he gave his only begotten Son, that (if you would simply believe on Him, you) should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The moment you believed, God broke down the barrier that existed between you and Him. Because now you are truly sanctified and cleansed by the blood of Christ to the point that at any time in your life that you choose, you can enter into the Holy of Holies where the Father dwells in heavenly places and have FELLOWSHIP with Him. The two of you … having intimate discourse with one another that will surpass even the love between a man and his wife … because now you are a child of God … made in His image!

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…” (1John 3:1)

If that knowledge doesn’t set you free from all the worries and cares of this life, then nothing will!

And because of this knowledge, we know with all certainty that…

“… ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

“For whom he did FOREKNOW (before you were ever born), he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son” (Romans 8:29)

What a mind-blowing privilege … that we might be “conformed to God’s image”!

“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” (Romans 8:29-30)

And it’s not something that our Father is waiting to do. He’s already done it! When He looks at us, He SEES us in His own image … RIGHT NOW!

The only thing that hinders us from beholding that same “glorification” is the veil of these mortal bodies! But once this veil is parted, we will INSTANTLY behold our glorious Father!

“Beloved, NOW are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1John 3:2)

But neither do we have to “wait” to experience in this mortal flesh the wonders of that “glorification”. As the Holy Ghost moves within us and we in Him, God’s love for the world manifests itself through us!

“Herein is our love made perfect … because as he IS, so ARE WE in this world.” (1John 4:17)

“For WE ARE his workmanship, CREATED in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

And we were “created” and “ordained” unto these good works BEFORE the world ever existed!

That’s what God saw when He beheld us in eternity! That’s why He loved us! And that’s why (like David) our “substance was made in secret … yet being unperfect”!

“According as he hath chosen us in him BEFORE the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having PREDESTINATED US unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:4-6)
