Many Christians today hold such a definition of themselves as being “pilgrims” upon the Earth, that they have resigned themselves to just getting by the best they can: i.e. going to church, voting for their favorite candidate, living life at their job and home as though that’s all there is to living as a Christian. They seem to be totally unaware of the fact that, in these last days, they’re being called upon; nay, being given the privilege and opportunity to witness in a mighty way of the risen Lord!

Christians are far more precious unto the Lord than they give themselves credit for. In fact, the Lord calls them His “peculiar treasure”!

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:” (Exodus 19:5)

Of course, we know as Christians, the covenant which God speaks of here (as a shadow-type) is the New Covenant which Jesus Christ Himself established when He died on the cross and was raised from the dead.

Now, when we enter into that Covenant by faith and are born again of God’s Spirit, He gives us something which no other people on the Earth can receive:

POWER!

“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he POWER to BECOME sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:11-13)

This “becoming” is a life-long process that is quickening more and more as the world plunges headlong into the kingdom of the antichrist spirit.

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 1:3:1-2)

Before we “see him as he is”, darkness will have spread upon the face the earth. And even now, God is preparing a people unto Himself who will be equipped in the Spirit to shine forth as lights to the world … having become living epistles to expose the darkness through the marvelous light of the gospel of Christ!

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14)

Many Christians cringe at the thought of being here during that time period. They see themselves as “grasshoppers” in comparison with the “giants” that inhabit the globe … just as the Israelites did when they “spied out” the promised land and returned in unbelief with their tales of fear.

But it will not be so in this end time. The Body of Christ will not be depending upon their own ability to shine forth as lights. But they will have already been equipped with the armor of God and the presence of the Holy Ghost. They will be the wise virgins who heeded the call of their God and PREPARED themselves through seeking God and worshipping the Father in spirit and in truth! They will only be concerned with doing their Father’s will … and not their own!

This will be God’s peculiar treasure! And God will not leave them powerless in the face of modern-day, global giants!

“For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.” (Deuteronomy 14:2)

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2:9)

We’ve been chosen a “nation” to shew forth the light of God in the midst of darkness! And, as a nation, we are above all the other nations (and their peoples) that are upon the face of the Earth!

However, this is not the modern-day theology of “Dominionism” (which claims to have power to Christianize and subdue all nations BEFORE the coming of the Lord), but rather the humble participation (through the power of the Holy Ghost) in the plan of God to WITNESS to those nations … and testify of the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ!

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Now, every born-again Christian has received the Holy Ghost in a measure. But, in the end, as prepared “wise virgins”, we will conduct ourselves in the Holy Ghost in abundance … even as in the Book of Acts:

“And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:32-33)

As this Body of believers is sent forth as a collective to testify in the Father’s will, there may even come a time that they fulfill that which is written about in John 3:33-34 …

“He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.”

So, let us not be just placid “pilgrims” upon the earth; but, let us rather reach forth into the things of the Spirit and prepare our “lamps” to shine brightly in the midst of a “crooked and perverse” world! And let us encourage one another in these things of God that we might be fully positioned in our individual walks in the Lord!

“Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.” (Malachi 3:16-17)
