In the Book of Genesis, it’s recorded that God made a promise to Noah after the Ark came to rest on Mt Ararat:
“And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:” (Genesis 9:12)
“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.” (Genesis 9:13)
“And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, … and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.” (Genesis 9:14-15)
This covenant with Noah meant that the world and its’ inhabitants would never again be destroyed by water! However, Jesus warned the disciples by making a comparison of Noah and the end times:
“But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:37)
“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away;” (Matthew 24:38-39)
Now just in case you think this warning doesn’t apply to Christians today, Jesus went on to warn:
“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” (Matthew 24:42)
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.” (Luke 21:34)
“For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” (Luke 21:35)
Now it’s the day of that “snare” or “flood” that we wish to focus our attention on at this present time. Because the Lord Himself, who cannot lie, said it was coming!
According to God’s covenant with Noah, we know it’s not a flood of water. So, it must be a flood of a different sort. In the Book of Amos, it speaks of the day of Lord:
“Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! To what end is it for you? The day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.” (Amos 5:18)
“As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.” (Amos 5:19)
“Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?” (Amos 5:20)
And Isaiah confirms this!
“For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:” (Isaiah 60:2)
It amazes me how Christians treat the coming of the Lord so lightly! They talk as though they’ll be sitting in front of their TV’s watching football one minute, and then the next instant they’ll be flying up in the “rapture” without a hint of suffering, tribulation or even just watching in prayer. How convenient!
It’s not going to be that easy … because darkness is going to “flood” the earth just as it did in the days of Noah. And it’s going to happen just as quickly.
Only this time it’s not going to be a flood of water, but rather a flood of darkness caused by an unleashing of demonic hordes the world has never seen! And that darkness is going to be so thick that many Christians are going to be caught “unawares” and be like the one who…
…flees from a lion, but a bear meets him; or, being out of breath from trying to escape, leans against a wall in his house and a serpent bites him! There will be no escape … darkness is going to “cover the earth” like a flood!
These demons that are going to be unleashed in these last days will bring about such chaos, suffering and mental confusion that there will be…
“…upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;” (Luke 21:25)
“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” (Luke 21:26)
No wonder the Lord is trying to warn his disciples … and us…
“… upon whom the ends of the world are come.” (1Corinthians 10:11)
But … God has made a way of escape! God provided an Ark for Noah’s family, and He has also provided an Ark in these last days for His adopted sons and daughters!
However, we have to choose to enter in! Noah preached to the people for 100 years while he prepared the Ark, but only 8 souls took him at his word and entered in before the flood came. The same is true today.
There’s a call being made to Christians worldwide to enter into the Ark. That Ark is Christ Himself … by the Holy Ghost which dwells in every Christian.
But be not deceived. Jesus warned that:
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22)
“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23)
As professed Christians, we need to make sure that we’re continually entering into that “last day” Ark which the Lord is, even now, preparing for those who love him in sincerity and truth.
